Quote of the week from Mandy Smith, former wife of Rolling Stone, Bill Wyman, when interviewed recently on a Christian TV Network about her favourite Bible Verse, explained how much she now loved reading the Bible having become a Christian. She said how wonderful it would be if there were local groups around the country where you could go and learn more about what the Bible teaches. Look no further Mandy!

Why do we get stale? Like bread left in the bread-bin, like wine opened and left in a cupboard, we can become spiritually stale if not refreshed and replenished regularly. We loose our appetite. Mr. Polly in the History of Mr. Polly by HG Wells said that he only read books when other things in his life got less busy. It’s so difficult to get that balance. We all go through times in our life when we need refreshing and revitalising, but wouldn’t it be good if we had that freshness permanently. When I first discovered these wonderful studies I had small children and life was busy with school runs, working part time, running a house etc. etc. I had got out of the habit of regular Bible reading. When someone suggested I joined CBSI, I thought, not another group, I don’t have time. Little did I realize what was waiting for me. The friendships, the depth, the discovery and revitalized relationship with God I discovered was dramatic. Business can be a state of mind. With God in control we can dramatically reorganize our lives and live in a permanent state of ‘’freshness’. Our sell by date ceases to exist.

One of the most important jobs we have to do as parents and teachers is to give our children a solid grounding in the Bible and show them how absolutely and unconditionally God loves them. This is why I am so excited about our under 5’s material. It is vibrant, comprehensive and full of interesting and different craft ideas. It has a core system of story, drama and prayer, with take home papers for parents. There are six years of material, each going through the Bible with a different emphasis. We need to get away from the idea that we just put babies and young children into crèches. Children are never too young to grow in their knowledge of God. Let’s rethink.

With an up-to-date design and integrated social media, our new website brings a fresh dimension to our evangelism and communications.

Our members can now subscribe to a CBSI UK news blog via email.

As part of the national online development, we intend to create a family of websites which will link all our UK study groups together. The pioneer of this is the Virginia Water, Ascot, Reading and Thorpe group. They have recently launched a local site using our new platform at www.cbsi-vw.org

Our local sites offer speaker videos, an interactive study blog, an email subscription to weekly study guides, a member’s notice board and a Twitter feed.
