More than a Bible study…

The success of CBSI lies in its five-way process that enables people within a supportive group environment, to understand God’s Word for themselves. 1. Home study Each week there are study questions, which the participants and leaders complete at home. Most answers can be found in the passage being studied. This helps people get used to using the Bible when answering questions. 2. Group discussion The group meets to discuss the answers they have to the questions. A leader facilitates, moving the discussion along. Large groups should split into smaller groups for discussion. 3. The talk After discussion a leader gives a talk on the passage studied, using testimony and personal application. There are “Leaders Guides” which can help with talk preparation. The talk can be anything from a five minute wrap up to a half hour long lecture. 4. Commentary When leaving, the participants are given a Commentary on the lesson they have just studied as well as the questions for next week. 5. Caring CBSI...

Quote of the week from Mandy Smith, former wife of Rolling Stone, Bill Wyman, when interviewed recently on a Christian TV Network about her favourite Bible Verse, explained how much she now loved reading the Bible having become a Christian. Why do we get stale?   Like bread left in the bread-bin, like wine opened and left in a cupboard, we can become spiritually stale if not refreshed and replenished regularly. We loose our appetite.  Mr. Polly in the History of Mr. Polly by HG Wells said that he only read books when other things in his life got less busy.  It’s so difficult to get that balance.   We all go through times in our life when we need refreshing and revitalising, but wouldn’t it be good if we had...
